Here is a listing of the best Engineering Schools (compiled from usnews listing)


1. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
Cambridge, Massachusetts 
MIT is best known for its math, science, and engineering programs. Currently in 2018, it is rated as #1 for Computer Science. Located just across the Charles River, MIT offers one of the coolest dorms in the country called "The Sponge," which was designed by prestigious architect Steven Holl, who has won a slew of design awards, according to the U.S. News & World Report.

2. Stanford University
Palo Alto, California
Currently Stanford is also ranked #1 for Computer Science. It has 90+ Graduate fields of study with 2,180 Faculty members. The Student-to-faculty ratio is 5:1. Stanford University students have spawned top-notch tech companies like Google, Hewlett Packard, and more recently Snapchat. In fact, companies formed by Stanford alumni generate revenues of $2.7 trillion annually, according to a recent study. Larry Page and Sergey Brin are the co-founders of Google and they did their computer science PhD at Stanford University.

3. University of California-Berkeley
Berkeley, California 
Engineering is an integral part of UC Berkeley. An engineering graduate from UC Berkeley is nearly guaranteed to be $1.1 million better off after 20 years than someone who never went to college, according to the Economist.
Berkeley is home to some of the world's greatest minds leading more than 130 academic departments and 80 interdisciplinary research units and addressing the world’s most pertinent challenges.

4. California Institute of Technology
Pasadena, California 
The California Institute of Technology isn't just a great engineering school. It's one of the 50 best colleges in America. Caltech is small but prizes excellence and ambition. The contributions of Caltech's faculty and alumni have earned national and international recognition, including 39 Nobel Prizes. The Institute manages the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) for NASA, sending probes to explore the planets of our solar system and quantify changes on our home planet; owns and operates large-scale research facilities such as the Seismological Laboratory and a global network of astronomical observatories, including the Palomar and W. M. Keck Observatories; and co-founded and co-manages LIGO, which, in 2016, observed gravitational waves for the first time.

The Institute has one of the nation's lowest student-to-faculty ratios (3:1), with 300 professorial faculty members offering a rigorous curriculum and access to varied learning opportunities and hands-on research to approximately 1,000 undergraduates and 1,250 graduate students. Caltech is an independent, privately supported institution with a 124-acre campus located in Pasadena, California.

The Georgia Institute of Technology is one of the most underrated schools when it comes to electrical and electronic engineering.

6. University of Illinois —Urbana-Champaign (Apply for admission)
Champaign, Illinois 
The University of Illinois — Urbana-Champaign is a public school, competing with many private peers on this list. 
Notable alumni include YouTube cofounder Steve Chen and film critic Robert Ebert. Its Alumni boasts of 28 Pulitzer Prizes. The College of Engineering is ranked 6th in undergraduate and 9th in graduate programs nationally.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Graduates from Carnegie Melon's School of Computer Science were the top earners among their peers last year. On average, those graduates made $84,409 annually.

8. Cornell University
Ithaca, New York
Cornell is the highly regarded Ivy League school in upstate New York. In 1883, Cornell introduced the world's first bachelor's degree program in electrical engineering.

10. Purdue University—West Lafayette
West Lafayette, Indiana
Purdue University — West Lafayette is the main campus in the Purdue University system. 
Inside its college of engineering is the school of Aeronautics and Astronautics, which has been dubbed "Cradle of Astronauts." Neil Armstrong, the first person to walk on the moon, attended Purdue.

The University of Wisconsin — Madison lies along the southern shore of Lake Mendota. The school has an active Greek life, and (unsurprisingly) the college is known as one of the top party schools in the country.

Texas A&M University's main campus is one of the largest in America, spanning 5,500 acres.

16. Virgina Tech
Blacksburg, Virginia

19. Columbia University
New York, New York
Located in New York City, Columbia's location is one of its greatest selling points. It is also an Ivy League school.
The university's neo-classical campus occupies six city blocks in Manhattan, taking up a little over 30 acres and offering a respite from the hustle and bustle outside its gates. Columbia was ranked at the top of the Best College Library list, and currently hosts more than 10 million volumes.

24. University of Maryland College Park
College Park, Maryland
Sports play a huge role in campus culture largely thanks to its basketball team, the Maryland Terrapins. The mascot, Testudo, is a Diamondback terrapin. One of several Testudo sculptures on campus sits in front of McKeldin Library. Rubbing its nose will apparently bring you good luck.

25 University of Minnesota Twin Cities
Minneapolis, Minnesota
The University of Minnesota is located in the Twin Cities, Minneapolis and St. Paul, though its main campus is located in Minneapolis. 
The College of Science and Engineering is located in the Mall area, known as the center of the Minneapolis Campus.
